    1. This audio has really taken me by surprise. I was expecting this to be very ordinary and maybe a bit dull, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it. Shelia Walsh has written a lovely book full of encouragement to remind us of how wonderful God is. As she says in the beginning, God’s promises remind us of who He is, and not about what we can get from Him. This audio has done exactly that for me.It is narrated perfectly by the author, you feel like she is a really good friend encouraging you all the way [...]

    2. Read Sheila Walsh's book as part of a Women's Bible Study group. Excellent choice! The video accompanying the book featured Sheila and her sincerity was evident, emotional for me at times, but very empowering to continue my study of scripture. The book has been very helpful to me at this stage of my life.

    3. This one is a must read. I received it a couple of days ago and honestly I am not toally through with it but I was so impressed I wanted to go ahead and tell you about it. 4. The Shelter of God’s Promisesby Sheila WalshThe Shelter of God’s Promises is one of the latest books by author, speaker and former 700 Club host, Sheila Walsh. The promises she shares are all centered on Jesus -- the cleft of God -- and His assurance to be our shelter. Drawing on her own personal experiences and using insightful summaries of scripture, Sheila makes the case that we have refuge in God. If you’re facing a storm, God’s promise to BE your shelter is hope you can cling to. If [...]

    6. “Yet I have watched in silent awe as women like Angie and others have learned to walk with this wound in a way that brings such glory to Christ.” – Sheila WalshSheila Walsh has never disappointed me. Her writings cut like a cleaver to the heart of a matter, and yet she does so with humor and steadfast love. This time she cuts through the question, “Why do bad things happen if God is all-powerful and holy?” by examining His promises. “This is part of a test, scripture tells us. Jesus [...]

    7. The Shelter of Gods promises by Shelia WalshThe book goes a little like thisPromises, PromisesI Need Something to Hold On ToThe Promise For no matter how many promises God has made, they are"Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God. —2 Corinthians 1:20 When you think of promises, you don't want to think of what's broken, of brokenness. It's human nature to want a sure thing and for someone to back up the certainties, guaranteed, no questions asked. But [...]

    8. Sometimes I read a book and I have to set it aside for awhile to ponder a truth that I discovered. That happened to me several times as I read this book. When I read about the woman who has been bleeding for 12 year and how she touched the hem of Jesus' garment I became very aware that He is not too busy for me. He was headed to Jairus's house to heal his daughter, but stopped to talk with this woman. This was so powerful for me to know that He cares enough about me to take time to be with me. I [...]

    9. After receiving this book from BookSneeze I found myself gazing through the chapters to attempt to gather what this book was further about. It instantly caught my attention after finding that she was making this book relatable to all scenarios women might encounter. Sheila Walsh divides each chapter with things we can correlate with promises God gives in the Bible. The last chapter was definitely memorable, and after I was finished reading I found myself walking away with insight I hadn't had be [...]

    10. The Shelter of God’s Promises is both for personal use and for group study. This is a book written by a woman with an open heart taught by God. Sheila Walsh speaks out of experience, and from a voice of love, teaching and inspiring the reader. Her ten chapter topics are:Promises, Promises/I Need Something to Hold On To;Provision/I Don’t Have Enough;Peace/I’m Afraid and Feel Alone;Confidence/I Can’t See God’s Plan in This Pain;Love/I Don’t Believe That Anyone Could Really Love Me;Grace [...]

    11. Just yesterday I was watching and discussing one of Sheila's appearances with Women of Faith at my ladies bible study and today I am reviewing her newest book which is a DVD based bible study and lesson guide. I did not have access to the DVD so this is a review of the participant's guide only. This bible study is about the Ten Promises that the Lord has given us:Jesus - I Need Something to Hold On ToProvision- I Don't Have EnoughPeace- I'm Afraid and Feel AloneConfidence-I Can't See God's Plan i [...]

    12. Where do you go when life's storms are raging all around you? You run to God and His promises. In Sheila Walsh's book, The Shelter of God's Promises, she reminds us of many of them - God's promises of provision, peace, confidence, love, grace, hop, strength, and more!Throughout the book, she weaves scripture with the hard realities of life. Yes, life is difficult. God didn't promise us a bed a roses, but said, "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." ~ Jo [...]

    13. I recently read The Shelter of God’s Promises written by Sheila Walsh. The author asks “Where do you turn for shelter in the worst storms of life?” The book is divided into ten chapters and Sheila references scripture verses for what God has promised us, what God’s promises mean, and how encounters with Christ are the eternal fulfillment of His unrelenting commitment to us.I felt inspired and reassured of God’s protection (shelter) after reading this book and will keep in mind this ver [...]

    14. She's solid, though I wish I'd noticed there were study questions to begin with (I borrowed the ePUB version from the library so I didn't "see" the layout of the book because I skipped the Table of Contents); this would make a good book for a group study, and it's not necessarily a "chick" book as much as some. I would recommend this to a friend, though Henri J.M. Nouwen remains my favorite messenger for this brand of hope and encouragement as he spent the latter part of his life imploring Chris [...]

    15. It was some of rough start reading this book. However, as I got into it, into the different promises, it held my attention. I liked how she started each chapter with a struggle and then a promise supported by scripture. Then she went on with her own experience or those that she knew, and then a story in the bible that went along. There was some profound statements that left me to reflect but not as much as I had hoped. I love the title for this book and the hope that it brings. The only fault I [...]

    16. The good news: the theology is not erroneous. The bad news: this book is shallow and disappointing. She takes sweeping themes like love and hope and fails to make them personal. She marries the themes with stories of particular women in the bible and almost every single pairing left me scratching my head. She tries to pull from a text a message not present. If she would just use texts that actually speak on the theme on which she is focusing, the whole book could be turned around. Instead of lea [...]

    17. I know and love Sheila, so I automatically respect her work. I also have a tendency to fall asleep when reading Christian Bible-study-style books - this one was no exception (hence the 3-star rating). That said, there were some great insights in this book (so maybe it should've been 4 stars?), especially if you're having trouble claiming/believing the promises of God (who isn't?). I LOVE that Sheila is moving more toward in-depth study which focuses less on her own experiences - it feels more de [...]

    18. Amazing book - it asked the hard question - when hard times comes what am I holding to ? The lies or the promises - It is a book that makes you evaluate how you evualate life's drama big and small. She doesn't profess to know all the answers but she is pointing you to Christ with warning some questions aren't answer on this side of eternity. Thanks Sheila for reminding me of some truths I had forgotten and giving me new ways of thinking on some old ones.

    19. Book Review by Lisa SuggsAuthor of - Choices: When Divorce Happens to You and Your ChildrenIn my women's bible study group, I used the DVD bible study version of this book which had a companion workbook and it was EXCELLENT! Sheila Walsh's teaching is SOLID! I could listen to her share her wisdom and insight that she has gained in her walk with the Lord for hours! Bravo Sheila for a great study!

    20. I kept picking this book up and putting it back down and getting busy, and it took me way longer than usual to finish this. But I am so glad that I did. Having read other books by this author, I feel that she really speaks to a woman's heart in a way that many other books do not. This book was a comfort to me in a dark time and I would recommend it to anyone struggling with personal battles.

    21. For Charles. I read this book with a group of gal pals. Started it the beginning of July. Finished reading it today. Thanks for your encouragement, Charles. The book was good. Simple and had great reminders. Easy to read and easy to discuss with others. Some nuggets to reflect on. Well written. Author has a great voice. My only "complaint" that it wasn't meaty enough.

    22. I liked the concept that God's promises are trustworthy because they speak of His character. Walsh writes that the promises of God are. Not really the shelter but God is the shelter. The reference of a shelter in a cliff goes back to Moses and his request to see God's glory. There is a beautiful passage on John the Baptist in the last chapter.

    23. I love Sheila Walsh and am encouraged by everything she writes. This book focuses on God's promises, each chapter focusing on a specific fear or concern. I read it slowly, usually right before bed so I'd have some quiet time to think about it. It's a good one to have around for future reference.

    24. Did with my Thursday morning group of wonderful ladies. I missed some chapters but what I have caught was good and thought provoking. The DVDs were not too long and different from the book so not a repeat, which we liked.

    25. ok, not real "meaty". Need something that pushes me harder spiritually. This was too much on the soft side for my taste. There was value there, however.

    26. Read this with my women's bible study group and it was amazing. This was the first Sheila Walsh book I read and will definitely look for more from her.

    27. Somewhere around a 3 or 4 star book - it's hard to gauge; it took months to read it with a weekly group at church (and then with blizzards). Very encouraging and inspirational!
