    1. Toot and Puddle live together in Woodcock Pocket. Puddle is reclusive and enjoys being left alone to his own devices. Toot is more outdoorsy and loves to travel. Toot decides to take his biggest trip yet and Puddle naturally stays home. This book is filled with illustrations. Half of the book features Puddle and his shenanigans at home, while the other half shows Toot and his travels along with a post card for each place he visits. I don't think I'll ever "grow out of" this book. Every time I re [...]

    2. I absolutely adore the premise and message of this story (and subsequent titles in the collection). The first time I read this (and I've reread it many times) I completely identified with situation of these two adorable, loving friends. The idea of two completely different friends loving each other despite their difference hit home for me. Coming from a life of friends and family who are content staying and living in one place and then myself needing to leave "home" and explore the world compelet [...]

    3. I had the pleasure of hearing this book read in a classroom and reading it myself. What a wonderful idea to have one pig traveling around the world while the other had just as equally fun adventures at home. This was also used wonderful as a writing/coloring activity in which each child decorated a postcard to send to someone else, just like the cards that Toot sent to Puddle in the story. It also provides for extensions in talking and showing different destinations on a globe. the illustrations [...]

    4. This series epitomizes what it means to be a friend. In this story, Toot travels while Puddle stays home and they both enjoy themselves. In other words, friends can have different interests. I, of course, like the fact that Toot sends postcards to Puddle from each of his destinations.

    5. A little while ago, my friend Roya read me this book, a favourite of hers from her childhood. This book is about two piggies, the eponymous Toot & Puddle. One piggy, Toot, he wants to see the world, travel, be an adventurous pig of action; the other piggy, Puddle, wants to be a coach potato and enjoy the luxurious comforts of home. Alas, such divergence in a relationship can be a sign of the end, but Toot & Puddle are independent souls and they do what they want.Toot sets off on a round-t [...]

    6. This is a nice little story about two friends; one loves to travel, the other loves to stay home. Both live life to the fullest and enjoy the splendors of the majestic world in which we live. It's a fantastic story to read with children and help explain how wonderful it is to explore the world, but that it's just as wonderful to be home. The illustrations are terrific and tell the story almost on their own. We will look for more of these stories!

    7. Lovely illustrations, and sweet story. My girls (5 and nearly-3) both enjoyed reading it, and I enjoyed it, too. It is worth rereading and checking out from the library again, something that I do not allow for all books.

    8. Nothing actually wrong with the book, but imo it is a bit underdeveloped, and some of the later books are better as the author got to know her characters better. My pet peeve about animals wearing shirts but no bottoms is present in some illustrations. In others, they do have complete costumes, and in others they are unabashedly naked. Hobbie is nothing if not whimsical.

    9. This was cute. One child I read it to asked for it multiple times. A great story for learning about differences in people, and how each of those differences are special.

    10. I love this book! Toot is an adventurer and Puddle is a homebody. They both go on their own adventures throughout the book. It's another book that I want to add to my child's personal library.

    11. Hands down my favourite children’s book, whenever it catches my eye on my shelves it makes me smile.

    12. Amazing artwork and cute story of two friends who enjoy very different things can do their own thing and still enjoy their time together.

    13. This book shows us that no matter where you are you can have your own adventures. Through the book we track both Toot and Puddles adventures- Toot travels the world and Puddles stay at home. One thing that I thought was cool about this book is that the reader will get a sense of what other places are like through Toots postcards and pictures of where he is. It brings culture to this tail of two friends’ journeys apart from each other. This story also shows that it’s okay to leave friends beh [...]

    17. What a heart warming story. Toot and Puddler are friends but enjoy very different things. Toot loves to travel the world while Puddle enjoys the simplicity found at home. The two accept each other for their differences and each feels free to be himself. Incorporate this book with a social studies lesson exploring the Globe and different places around the world following Toot and his travels. Have students write postcards just like Toot writes to Puddle and share in the postcard where they are lo [...]

    18. I am completely smitten with Toot and Puddle and the art of Holly Hobbie. I want to jump into the book, travel with Toot and revel in the loveliness of home with Puddle. Plus, I'm a sucker for mail so all of Toot's postcards home were fun to read. I miss postcards. I need to send more. Anyway, I enjoyed the book, the words, the illustrations and the feeling. If more children were in my future, I might even carry my adoration of Holly Hobbie as far as to create a Holly Hobbie nursery. But that's [...]

    19. The drawings are so adorable and having the pigs be good friends despite their very different personalities not only adds more interest to the story, but also demonstrates to children that they can be friends with other people who aren't exactly like them. Toot's postcards are a fun narrative device too. The one thing that is tricky with this book is that because so much of the narration can be non-verbal it is hard to read aloud to children. It is much better suited for them to explore on their [...]

    20. Toot and Puddle is a very cute story about friendship! It is a great story to use when learning about writing letters because throughout the story Toot is writing letters. These letters are half of the text in the book. This book could also be used to help students learn the beginning, middle, and end. It has a pretty clear beginning middle and end so I think it would be a good book to start off beginning middle and end. And, since the book is based on a friendship, it could always be incorporat [...]

Puddle is a happy homebody and revels in the adventures at home, while Toot is a serious travel bug. Toot decides to go on a year-long trip around the world. Month by month we get to see what Puddle is up to at home, and where and what Toot is doing abroad via postcards sent to Puddle. The illustrations and the story are warm, playful and inviting. 22. I have a thing for great childrens books with cool illustrations and I happen to love piglets (don't ask me why). This book has it all! Written and illustrated by Holly Hobbie, this book is the first of many subsequent Toot and Puddle books. It is the story about two adorable piglets who live together in a place called Woodcock pocket. Very original ilustrations of the two most endearing piglets you will ever meet! I have a few of the Toot and Puddle books, but want to own them all. Just too dar [...]

    23. This apparently is the first book of the Toot and Puddle series of books.ough you don't have to read them in order to enjoy them. (This was our second one to read.) This one introduces us to two friends they love each other but are totally different. One likes to go on adventures and the other doesn't. So while the one goes around the world he sends postcards back to the one that stays home. Introduces readers-listeners to the months of the year and what weather goes with them. A fantastic book [...]

    24. Toot and Puddle live together in Woodcock Pocket. Toot decides that he needs to travel the world. Puddle prefers to stay at home and explore his world. We see each of them exploring their worlds throughout one year until Toot decides to make his way home. The drawings are fun. The adventures are interesting. They will keep the child’s interests over many reads. My fourth, fifth, and sixth graders kept asking me to slow down when I was holding up the pictures; something that doesn’t happen wit [...]

    25. Toot and Puddle are two sweet little pigs who live together in Woodcock Pocket. Though they are friends, they are very different. Puddle is a homebody, and Toot loves to travel. Toot takes a big trip to see the world and sends Puddle postcards along the way to document his adventures. With pictures a bit small and detailed for a large group, smaller groups or one-on-one will love this sweet story about two friends who do their own thing but still remain close. The illustrations can be quite hila [...]

    26. A heartwarming story about two friends who are polar opposite and yet still best friends. When Toot decides to travel the world, Puddle chooses to stay home and the rest of the book is spent paralleling their activities and adventures and showing how two people can find adventure in totally different ways. The illustrations are so beautifully well done and really look so real sometimes like a photograph This is a fantastic book to read aloud to children and I will have many of the Toot and Puddl [...]

    27. This book is the SPARK of my desire to travel and see the world. As a kid, reading this book was like going on a tour around the world. While Toot went on his journey around the world, Puddle stayed at home, reminiscing the times they spent together. After reading the book, I discovered the importance of having at least one best friend and my desire to travel the world and experience the different cultures. Whenever I read this book, this heart-warming feeling springs up and urges me to treat my [...]
