    1. 3 ½ stars. Mildly entertaining. Kept my interest. Dark comedy. Not laugh out loud.Eccentric loner 40 year old John begins robbing small businesses wearing a mask. It’s easy and he’s good at it. Oddball characters enter the story with various problems and agendas. By the end of the story John has been interacting with a dozen different people. Some of them good, some not so good. Unexpected and surprising things happen. John causes changes in others’ lives. By the end of the book, I really [...]

    2. Bad Reputation grabs you quickly and makes it a priority to keep reading to find out what happens. The mix of real life Chicago locations woven into the fabric gives it a more relevant feel. Can't wait to read the follow-up Novella and Matt's next work.

    3. A quick and easy read which was entertaining and darkly humorous. This book needs a good editing. The occasional missing or incorrect word and incessant use of unneeded commas drove me to distraction at times. There were some deeper thoughts lying underneath the fast-paced story line, which I liked very much: Life is not neat and tidy, we all have flaws, and our actions and the way we treat others have lasting effects. So if the reader takes time to reflect on the story it will leave more of an [...]

    4. Bad Reputation is written with the breezy style and confident hand of an author that understands what it takes to write a raucous adventure. I was delighted and captivated from page one yearning for more when I finished the book. Bad Reputation is a wonderful novel that you cannot afford to miss. The pages are filled with quirky, well-defined characters that jump right off the page.I think Bad Reputation is one of the coolest books you’ll enjoy reading this year.

    5. liked the fact that not everything works out perfectly for the characters in this book. The characters are flawed and sometimes seem to have a death wish! makes the book interesting because you can't predict what will happen which is something that I like to do. there is humor and sadness i the story so it runs the gamut.

    6. I couldn't put Matt Hader's "Bad Reputation" down. As I followed John Caul's escapades he grew on me and I couldn't wait to turn the page to find out about his next adventure. I enjoyed the historical trivia and the descriptions of some my old stomping grounds especially the thinly veiled city of Balmoral. A good read. Colorful characters take you on twists and turns.

    7. Thoroughly enjoyed this book! Great character development, *many* plot twists, a lot of unexpected turns, and I felt like I had grown up with each character by the end of the book. Fantastic ending! I recommend Bad Reputation (and frankly, everything I have read so far by Matt Hader) very highly!
