    1. In this short story Jen Wylie has managed to preserve the feeling of a fairy tale / nursery rhyme with her use of simple, yet effective, prose. She juxtaposes this successfully with a modern setting and characters leaving an intriguing contemporary feel with the reader at the story's end.Being a short story, the reader stays with the main character throughout. Fortunately Aaron is likable and interesting, absorbed by his love of music and loyalty to his family.Shay, Aaron's antagonist, also intr [...]

    2. Ring around the rosie, pocket full of posies, ashes, ashes, we all fall down. What if weren't about something deadly but something magical? Aaron is part of a musical family and even he is surprised when he hears music coming from the woods. He must investigate. This short story gives us an alternative to the meaning we've all associated with this song. I like that there is something else behind this song. So many children love it, it's nice to see it can be interpreted another way. I like this [...]

    3. Aaron comes from a musical family. He plays piano and guitar, but his favorite instrument is the flute. When he hears the sound of a flute drifting from the nearby woods, he can't help but seek out the source of the music. He meets Shay, who is playing a set of pipes. Over the course of several days, Aaron returns to the clearing in the woods many times and joins in Shay's little concerts for the children who appear each day. When Shay asks if Aaron will return one afternoon he assures Shay he w [...]

    4. Quite an interesting take on the children's song of the same name that children have sang for years. I really liked the turn that the story took later on as I continued to read. Will say it was a quite unexpected ending. I think it took me about an hour to read altogether.

    5. Lovely story filled with music and magic. From the beginning till the end it kept me wondering what's going to happen and who is this mysterious boy from the woods.

    6. Really great short story that provides a new look into the stories that revolve around this nursery rhyme. I thought it was very original.

    7. The unpretentious writing serves to add to the overall creep factor of this book. A short story exploring the childrens song "Ring around a Rosie" Shay comes accross as quite undefinable whilst his very and every visage is described and then put into or out of context just fast giving the reader the impression of seeing but seeing more than what is right in front of you. And at times, you know you are seeing less.

    8. This was a satisfying read, plainly told without overmuch style or pretension getting in the way of the story. Brief as it is, you get a clearly defined image of who the lead character Aaron is and that makes the story more enjoyable."Suspense" is not really the goal here, as the plot is reasonably guessable. The story's pace and clarity are more important and the ending leaves it up to the reader to make a final determination of "what just happened?", adding to the fun.As a bonus, the author pr [...]

    9. I really thought this book was just a standard "short" story. It received high marks but nothing about it really stood out to me as to garner those marks. To recieve high marks from me from a short story, the author must be able to be concise enough in their writing and elicit some for of emotional response from me. I didn't think this book did either well enough to garner some of the 4 and 5 star ratings it has been given, but the storyline was interesting.

    10. I picked this story up when it was offered as a free read. It’s very short, a nice diversion that would probably work well in a magazine. The author writes well, but much was left unexplained. I was intrigued by the idea of a plot spun around the old children’s nursery rhyme, but would have liked for the tale to be fleshed out more.

    11. It's a very interesting short story. I wish it were longer because I would like to know more. It's unique and loved reading another version of Ring Around the Rosie.

    12. I was left wanting to know what happened nextkes it tough to review because it almost seemed like a preview chapter. I knew it was a short story going into it though.

    13. Very short story. Liked the tale well enough. Interesting take on the meaning of the children's song we all know and love

    14. Pretty interesting overall but kind of vague too. I wish there was more depth to what was going on. I got it, but I just wish there was more.
