    1. This collection was born of the inner city at least as much as it was born of a poet. I have lived in big cities but am a nature lover so the gritty nature of some of the subject matter has simply not been a part of my life. Also, the poet was schooled at Columbia College, Chicago, which I associate with language poetry, perhaps falsely. But Yount's book encourages that association since many of her poems are fragmented.
