    1. Ross Carpenter was born and raised in a small town in South Carolina. He struggled with shame due to his father and where he came from but the one good thing he had all though high school was Allie Williams. When Ross left for the Army he thought Allie turned her back on him because she never answered any of his letters. His mind told him it was because she thought he wasn't good enough for her. Today after being in the Special Forces for years he owns his own private security firm called RC Inv [...]

    2. I have often wondered if a man could write a GOOD romantic suspense novel. And over the years, I have tied a few, but have always been dissatisfied, till now!V.R. Marks delivers with his book, The Thief. This book gives readers the…ing on the edge of your seat, needing to know what happens next, can’t put the damn book down syndrome. You can’t help, but fall in love with both our hero, Ross and heroine, Allie. The rekindling of their high school romance was so tender and ah, so sweet. As a [...]

    3. I thought this was a really good read. I loved the characters and that their history was explained well. Ross and Allie make a great couple, the compliment each other and just when you think they will get a HEA there are some twists and turns. Eva is hysterical and I can't wait to get to know her more in the coming books. A great new voice in Romantic Suspense! Check this book out!

    4. I love crime novels and this one is packed with action, spies, corruption. I was not bored one minute and could hardly put the book down. I read it in 7 hours only because I started while at work!

    5. I Loved this book and this new author, wow, can't wait to read the next book. 10 stars for sure, a MUST read

    6. This is a steady moving mystery/romance book. Ross and Allie had been best friends growing up and High School sweethearts. At graduation, Ross - from the "wrong side of the tracks"- and Allie - a prominent lawyer's daughter- went separate ways with a promise to keep in close contact through letters. Ross went into the Army and Allie went to college. They soon both felt betrayed because while both wrote faithfully, they neither one ever receive their letters. They both felt betrayed and yet still [...]

    7. Allie Williams steals company property after finding out her boss's shady business. Ross Carpenter was hired to retrieve what she has stolen. He doesn't believe his luck or bad luck when he sees that the person he is supposed to follow is the same Allie from high school, the one who he's got a history - he wished to forget - with. The plot is ok and the book starts off with a good suspense but very quickly it gets boring as the suspense is put aside as soon as Ross decides to hide her in one of [...]

    8. This is the first romantic suspense I have lonely read that was written by a male author. At first I was not to sure about the the whole idea but I had heard some great things about Marks so I put my tempdtion aside and gave this book a try and man am I glad that I did. Marks writes romantic suspense better then some female writers I have read in the past. He writes with class and characters you can relate to and really enjoy. I loved the story, the plot, the characters, well, the entire book an [...]

    9. Not particularly memorable. What little sex is in this book is clinical at best, and mostly skipped over. The story was good, but not great and nothing about it makes me want to read it again. In fact, I'm having a hard time remembering much about it despite having read it only a week ago. Read it to fill time, but if you are looking for something to sink your teeth into, you might want to skip this one. I gave it 3 stars, but it's more like maybe 2.5, and I'm being generous.

    10. If you love to read contemporary romantic suspense like I do, then this book is for you!!I can't imagine anyone giving it less than 3 stars coz it kept me interested & turning pages throughout the whole story :) This is the first book I've ever read by V.R. Marks & it won't be the last!! I can't wait to read more by this talented author :)

    11. THIS BOOK IS ONE OF THOSE BOOKS THAT KEEP YOU TIED IN, THERE IS ACTION LOVE AND SUSPENCE ALL IN ONE. I LIKED THE STORYLINE AND HOW IT TIES IN ALL TOGETHER FROM THE FIRST BOOK INTO THE SECOND BOOK THE WITNESS. BOTH EQUALY GREAT IN THEIR OWN WAY.

    12. I really enjoyed this and was surprised to find it was written by a male author. Ross and Allie are great characters, and you can't help but root for them. I'm excited to read more of this series.
