  1. I read this in conjunction with Vincent and Theo: The Van Gogh Brothers, so when that book mentioned paintings and sketches I would reference this book. It's a large and pretty thorough collection with many full-color reproductions, but for some reason it was missing a couple key pieces– most notably Starry Night Over the Rhône (I'm guessing licensing issues?).   2. If you are looking for a history of the paintings and drawings of van Gogh, this is the book for you. However, if you are looking for a story about the man himself, you are best served looking elsewhere.
