    1. Hmmm I liked this book, despite the fact that it is not my preferred genre. I would give it 3 stars based solely on my personal taste, but I feel this book would be well received by fans of paranormal, paranormal romance, fantasy and all those YA blockbusters. It kind of had a feel like The Mortal Instruments for me, and had twinges of horror and lots of action in that vein. The writing is good and the book is cleanly edited, though some chopping of adjectives in some areas may have helped the pa [...]

    2. Into the Veilis a fast-paced, engaging story full of vibrant imagery and characters that will make you want to know them. It’s told from the point of view of Lyric, a teenage veilwalker. She and her brother Lincoln have the ability to leave their bodies and walk through the veil, which is the realm of the dead who have not passed on. In it they can wander without being seen by the living. As this is a rare gift, they are constantly in danger of being captured to be used as spies. This story had [...]

    3. I am getting hooked on indie books, and Into the Veil is a perfect example of why.The book starts out engaging, but just a little rough, a little awkward, mirroring the teenager it portrays. Lyric is almost 17 and she isn't quite sure of who she should be yet. That is typical enough, but that's about all that is typical about Lyric or her twin brother, Lincoln. They are Veilwalkers, one of the rarest of magical beings, with the ability to slip into 'The Veil', a shadowy realm of ghosts that over [...]

    4. DNFIt pains me to do this. I'm an author and I know how wonderful it is to pull up your profile to discover a shiny new four or five star review. I wish like hell I could inspire that feeling here, but in order to review with integrity I can't do so. Especially because this is part of a review challenge, I have to be honest or the whole idea falls apart. This book is cliche, riddled with typos, and poorly written. I look at all those four and five star reviews and I feel like I'm going crazy. I [...]

    5. * I received this book in exchange for my honest review*Don't you hate it when a book keeps you up until three in the morning (even though you have to wake up at 6:30 to go to work) because it's so darn good? I don't! I love it!I fell in love with Lyric and Lincon right away (what a great name, Lyric, by the way). They are Vailwalker twins, and possibly the last of their kind of mages. Veilwalkers are witches who can freely go (you guessed it) Into The Vail between our world and the next - what [...]

    6. I really really really didn't want to write this review, mostly because I'm 22% into the next book. Holy crapola on a stick. This book was amazeballs. The beginning was a little rough, and I'm not really a fan of the weird names, BUT the plot was really freaking amazing. I did like that Lyric didn't spend too much time whining and moaning about her situation, it made it alot easier to sympathize with her since it wasn't being shoved down my throat. I really don't want to spoil the book, but I th [...]

    7. Received from Lovers Of Paranormal in exchange for an honest review.Omg I loved this book. It is written in the voice of Lyric the veilwalker. I love how she describes all of the characters. Gemma, her ghost cracked me up. The author made me feel everything she was feeling from anger, and lust to sadness and confusion. I can not wait to get my hands on the next book in this trilogy.

    8. Today, I am reviewing the Paranormal story Into the Veil by Jennifer R. McDonald. This is a story in which the world is peopled, in part, by mages who have different abilities – there are conjurors, who can summon objects from other places, there are sirens, who can command the minds of others…and there are also veilwalkers, or gravewalkers, who can leave their bodies and cross into the realms of the dead. I give this book a 4.5/5. Here is my breakdown.Characters: 5/5. Oh, my, God. Did Jenni [...]

    9. Disclaimer: I received this book from the author as part of a R2R in the Lovers of Paranormal  group. This doesn't affect my review and the following is my honest opinion. I've really been lucking out with great indie books lately! Into the Veil was a really fun, fast paced read that had me readily engaged in Lyric's story. Jennifer McDonald has created very vivid, lively characters that are so well-rounded! I just adore when characters are as believable as the cast of Into the Veil! It mak [...]

    10. My rating is actually a 3.5/5 starsInto the Veil by Jennifer R. McDonald is a fast-paced, enjoyable read that keeps you engaged from beginning to end. The story follows Lyric and Lincoln Yama, teenage twins who have been on the run most of their lives, living in hiding from the magical world they were born into. Like their mother, the Yama twins are Veilwalkers, an almost extinct race of warlocks capable of separating their spirits from their bodies and stepping into the world between life and d [...]

    11. I absolutely loved Into the Veil. It had everything that I look for in a great read – plenty of action, sizzling romance, strong compelling characters and is well written with an original, engrossing plot. Lyric and her brother Lincoln are veilwalkers (ones who can cross the veil into the parallel world of the dead) who are kidnapped and forced work for a powerful clan. Suddenly, Lyric’s world is not so black and white. She has to decide who to believe and who to trust – her life and her b [...]

    12. This is an engaging and wholly entertaining read. Plunging straight into the action, it had me gripped from the get go. The pacing throughout is spot on -neither overwhelming nor dull, and it's undulating flow makes for an awesome ride. The world created is fresh and complex (of which this first of the trilogy gives but a glimpse into; there's a lot more to discover and I am so looking forward to discovering it). For me, though, the characters are what really make it so wonderful. Each and every [...]

    13. I received this novel in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal). This novel is a wonderful beginning to a very good series. It is the type of novel that leaves you wondering what will happen next. What will they do now? I like the beginning because instead of overloading you with a bunch of background information, the author starts off rough with some action thrown in. I really enjoyed reading this fast paced novel.

    14. This review has spoilers because in order to pick apart this masterpiece of a book, I need to reveal some elements of the book. The beginning was quite curious. It started off about the twins having a ghost only they can see. Cheesy! I thought, but it was a good kind of cheesy because it is just so interesting. Sure that may be in many other books, but only because it's so entertaining. But here is the twist. The twins are veil walkers and they enthralled a ghost. Cheesy? Not at all. In fact thi [...]

    15. I got this book in exchange for an honest review. Here goes:Into the Veil is an engaging young adult novel that makes use of the conventions of the genre in a way that creates a convincing and immersive world. The story follows Lyric Yama and her twin brother, Lincoln, as they find themselves separated from their father and thrust into the world of warlocks—a world which they are a part of by birth. As Veilwalkers, the twins are able to cross between the realms of the living and the dead, an a [...]

    16. **I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal) **An awesome book that I couldn't put down. I loved this book from start to end, by an author I had never even heard of before, well all I can say is I will look out for books by this author in future as well as the rest of this series. The main character Lryic is a sixteen year old girl with the ability to move through the veil (limbo) and view the restless spirits. Her and her brother Lincoln have been on the [...]

    17. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from LoP. This book was Amazing. With enough drama, sarcasm, suspense and romance this book was unputdownable. Lyric along with her brother Lincoln and her father has been on the run from warlocks and witches for over a decade. They have managed doing so pretty well until one day they come home only to find their father kidnapped and an un-trustworthy warlock with a proposition for them. In order to free their father they have to go with him [...]

    18. Into the Veil is the story of Lyric and her twin brother Lincoln, both young veil walkers - rare supernaturals who have the ability to leave their physical bodies and cross over to the veil or purgatory if you will and commune with the ghosts there. They are rare because they are the perfect spies - able to go anywhere in the veil undetected and watch the world of the living without anyone the wiser. In a world fill of conveying supernatural covens they are prize that has been virtually hunted a [...]

    19. *All spoilers removed* I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Now onto the more exciting This book took me by surprise. It has many of the magical elements and creatures I've come to know from reading my fair share of Paranormal novels. The book begins by jolting the reader into the world of Lyric and her brother Lincoln as it is being turned upside down. After years on the run, their worst fears seem to unfold all at once before the reader can really tell what it m [...]

    20. This book was provided to me by the author, free of charge, in exchange for my unbiased review. My actual rating is closer too 4.75 stars, but why not just round up if for nothing other than sheer and utter creativity? Maybe there exists something out there similar to this, but I've not read it.Jennifer must be a veilwalker and I a ghost because I am absolutely enthralled by this!Seriously, this was a really fun, quite original story and I greatly enjoyed it! There was the occasional editorial er [...]

    21. Deliciously addicting. I found it near impossible to put this book down, opting to forego a few day to day responsibilities in favor of reading the next chapter. Into the Veil follows Lyric, a type of witch referred to as a veilwalker, and her twin brother, Lincoln, as they learn to navigate their way through some sticky situations. In Lyric's world, there are several classifications of witches, as well as other paranormal beings. Lyric, Lincoln, and their father have been on the run for years, [...]

    22. I received this book in exchange for an honest review (Lovers of Paranormal book group). Lincoln and Lyric are 16 year old twins. They are also veilwalkers. What does that mean? It means that they can crossover to the other side, through "the veil" and walk among the dead. Specifically, dead spirits that have not moved on and are stuck wandering around in a sort of purgatory. Creepy? Definitely. Even creepier still is the fact that they brought a spirit back with them one of the times they cross [...]

    23. *I received this book in exchange for an honest review (lovers of paranormal)Where to begin. I can't wait to read the next book. Right from the start I was drawn into the world of lyric and Lincoln and their battle for survival. They are twins from a very long kind of a very rare mythical sages called veilwalkers. I felt like I was with them the entire book after being kidnapped and having their taken from them then being blackmailed into helping an enemy coven for the return of their father. All [...]

    24. I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal)This was a strange book, the beginning was very abrupt you were plunged straight in and was expected to understand what was happening I hung in there and I'm glad I did I found that the book was fast past characters were interesting. The storyline was enjoyable although I found that some times the wrong word had been put in to a sentence which just made me laugh. I read this book in a week and I would say I'm a sl [...]

    25. Jennifer R. McDonald has written an interesting and page-turning YA novel. The first sentence hooks you and the book flies by. She does a great job with world building by giving you just enough information without giving too much. It also helps that the main character is learning about the world as well as the readers so that the world building seems very natural. There are some minor grammatical errors and unclear sentences. A few times I had to read a sentence more than once to figure out what [...]

    26. Into the Veil was a wonderful YA story with solid characters, vivid places and a great plot. Our heroine is Lyric, a teenager who happens to have a rare gift. She's able to walk through the veil, as is her brother Lincoln, they can wander through the world without being seen and learn things others can't. Besides veilwalkers there are mages and other types of magic users who inhabit the world. In the book, Lyric and her brother are introuble of being captured because of their rare gift and how u [...]

    27. I was given this book from the author and from Lovers of paranormal in exchange for an honest review. So I have been sitting here and stewing over what I want to say about this review on this book. I think I might have finally figured it out so I'm just going to start. To begin with this is an excellent start of a series. The book itself is fast paced, but not to fast paced if you know what I mean. The characters and their development were very very well done, you get to know their personalities [...]

    28. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.Lyric is a Veilwalker: this means she can move back and forth between the land of the living and the land of the dead - The Veil. She's also on the run with her family. From all kinds of threats.I loved this book. It was a fun, energetic read. The story twisted and turned, but wasn't hard to follow. Even with all the twisting and twining relationships and allegiances, it was just fun to read.Lyric, the main character, was awesome. [...]

    29. There was a lot that I enjoyed about this book. The premise was original and interesting, and the plot moved along quickly. Back story and characterization were done with skill and the relationships between characters were engaging. As a secondary English teacher, I know that teenagers (in particular girls) would enjoy this novel. This is one of the most enjoyable indie books I've read recently. The author should be congratulated on a good read. It would have been a five star read, but for one t [...]

    30. The positives. I loved this story from beginning to end. A tale about Lyric and her twin Lincoln, both Veilwalkers, who have the ability to cross over into the ghost realm. The story also includes warlocks who have different skills, seers, vampires, fairies and werewolves. Each character is unique and well developed. The plot line is also well done. The negatives. Grammar, punctuation and typos are an issue and this book would benefit from a thorough edit. Sometimes present tense and past tense a [...]
