    2. Witch Wars is funny and fabulous (and that's just the outfits!). It has THE most perfect illustrations, and a map, too! With names like Brollywood, and Clutterbucks to visit, it's the perfect place for a bit of Witchy Wandering!Tiga Whicabim is nine years old and lives with a miserable old bat called Miss Hek, who in turn refers to her as 'brat' and serves cheese water for tea. She spends most of her time in the garden shed by herself, until she meets Fran, The Fabulous Fairy, who tries to tell [...]

    3. Darling series starter about young witches and the witch world, where everything is black, white, and gray, and which can only be accessed by traveling through sink pipes from our world! Lots of clever twists and very fun world-building, my kids are excited to see what Tiga and her witch friends do next!

    4. Oh, how to describe 'Witch Wars'? Well, if 'The Worst Witch' and 'The Hunger Games' had a baby which was raised in the settings of every Saturday morning cartoon imaginable, one after another, whilst high on whatever is keeping the Looney Tunes alive and tripping, then 'Witch Wars' might be the spectacular, cracking and goofy result.I really enjoyed this witchy product. It took me right back to my days of reading female-led middle school books such as 'Jane Blonde' and 'Emily Windsnap'. Also 'H. [...]

    6. I was looking forward to this book since I heard it would come out. Sadly, amazon didn't really have it until not that long ago. But it was finally there, and I just had to have it.And what a trip this was! I just absolutely adore this book, we have witches, scavenger hunts, fashion, puns, great and loveable characters, not so nice and not so loveable characters. The book starts with our main character Tiga finds out she is a witch and is taken to the Ritzy City/Sinkville that apparently resides [...]

    7. Glamour, witchcraft, friendship and jam, what more could you ask for? Deliciously funny and bizarre, with absolutely fantastic illustrations, this is an absolutely charming book that I hope will be a real winner!

    9. I read this to see what my 7 year old daughter had picked off the shelf and was talking so animatedly about. It's a lovely mix of adventure, friendship and a detailed love of fashion. So enjoyable I read the whole series.4 stars as I'm an adult so this was a bit short, but perfect for a primary age girl. Also to be recommended in advance of World Book day. An easy costume to pull together from clothes probably already in your daughters wardrobe.

    10. I loved the new fresh way witches were presented in this book and the story of why witch hats are pointed etc. many clever details put into a lighter-hearted "Hunger Games for witches" plot. But there were so many characters that even with a few illustrations, it was difficult to keep up my mental images and personalities of each one.

    13. Sooo you are a witch and you need to take part of the witch wars in the Undercity that night but you have never been told you were a witch. Now you know the sudden shock of poor Tiga who lived on cheese water hiding in the garden shed of the woman who found her.A very good read with great humour and characters. I loved the characters as well as the idea that the entire world is greyscale without being depressing. I became hooked part way through and had the simple problem of one more chapter as [...]

    14. Ready to travel through the drain pipes? Be careful, though, it might cause warts! This is a story packed full of fantasy and fun, taking the reader to a world which could only materialize with a ton of imagination. The first sentences already set the tone--a small fairy trudging through a yard while holding a leaf over her head. And Tiga, the girl this fairy is about to visit, eats nothing but boiled cheese water and has no idea how to escape the 'evil' woman taking care of her. This is a story [...]

    15. ReviewWitch Wars is a quirky, imaginative book that will keep readers turning the pages to see what escapades protagonist Tiga gets up to next. The book is aimed at younger readers and has an appropriately silly sense of humor-it takes place in a city you can only reach by going down a sink drain, after all. However, as an older reader, I still thought it was tons of fun and enjoyed watching Tiga explore magical Ritzy City and discover what true friendship is all about. The story follows nine-yea [...]

    17. This is the first in a series (currently 4 books) about a nine year old girl names Tiga Whicabim. She lives with her guardian, mean and nasty Miss Heks. She spends most of her time in the shed to get away from her. Meals consist of cheese soup, yes a small bit a mouldy cheese in boiling water. Get the picture, a pretty nasty home for poor Tiga. When Fran the Fairy shows up at Tiga’s shed to tell Tiga that she’s a witch, she doesn’t believe her. Fran tells her that she will take her to Ritzy [...]

    18. Tiga Whicabim is literally pulled by the way of a drainpipe out of her miserable human existence into Ritzy City, Sinkville and told she is a witch competing in the Witch War competition. The winning witch becomes the city’s top witch and can make decisions for the good (or bad) of the city. As Tiga gets further in the competition it becomes less about winning for the power but more about the ability for her to stay in the world that she feels part of and quickly learns to love. The ending all [...]

    19. Before I start, I just wanna tell the story of how I came to read this book because I didn't go out of my way to pick it up and read it. I was reading Hold Me Closer, Necromancer at this time, I was leaving for the airport and I didn't wanna carry the book around with me so I put it in a suitcase (that I didn't have with me on the plane) and downloaded the epub. But then my phone died and I had nothing to read on a 4 hours flight (that was delayed on top of all) except for my little sister's boo [...]

    20. I received this book as part of the First Reads Program for the purpose of a fair review.Overview: Tiga has lived most of her life by the adage of “avoid Mrs. Heks.” While, hiding in the shed, she meets somebody…um, special? Fran has been looking for Tiga, after all, Tiga has been entered into the Witch Wars contest. If she isn’t in Ritzy City, then she isn’t able to compete. Can Tiga become the next Top Witch of Ritzy City? Or will she be doomed to live with her guardian, Mrs. Heks?L [...]

    21. When Fran the Fairy shows up at Tiga Whicabim’s shed (not house, that’s where her mean old guardian, Miss Heks, lives) to tell Tiga she’s a witch, the nine-year-old doesn’t believe her. Then Fran takes her down the pipes and into fabulous Ritzy City to prepare her for Witch Wars. Nine little witches compete to solve riddles and the winner becomes Top Witch and rules over Ritzy City. But, for Tiga, losing means returning up the pipes and back into the hands of the evil Miss Heks. With her [...]

    22. What an absolutely amazing book! A professor of mine gave me a stack of books, this one among them. I knew from the cover I was getting into a children's novel. Starting as early as chapter one, I was hooked. The story of the Witch Wars is hilarious, imaginative, and extremely creative. The writings and drawings are reminiscent of Tim Burton in all of his glory. At one point the witches mention that all of Sinkville is black, white, and gray, which is HILARIOUS because drawings in novels are alw [...]

    23. Tiga didn't know she was a witch until Fran the fairy turns up and takes her off to the gloriously glizty Ritzy City to compete in Witch Wars. If Tiga wins, she'll be crowned Queen of Ritzy City. If she loses, she'll be sent back home to her horrible aunt. Through the contest, Tiga makes new friends and a couple of enemies, learns to cast spells, and finds out what really matters in Ritzy City - pointy shoes, big hats and fabulous milkshakes.A fun adventure, with lots of silly jokes, magic, fash [...]
