    1. Originally posted HERE .I keep downloading these historical Christian romances even though I don’t like having religion forced on me. Why do I do it? Because I’ve found some really entertaining books in this line, and usually they’re not all that preachy.I liked this one. It has a lot of elements that I like in historical romance. A bit of danger and adventure. Characters who are more normal (no high ranks and airs and graces). A relationship that takes time to develop (however, this is al [...]

    2. I received this book as an e-ARC free from Netgalley. Below is my review. This is the 5th book in a series though it can be read quite well as a standalone. Caleb, Rebecca, and Adam: best friends and playmates, betrothed couple and best friend, jilted bride and broken man, antagonists. They have run the gamut of relationships. When the story opens, Rebecca is alone, save for her younger sister, having been set aside by Adam and then having lost her parents in an accident. Broken and hurting, she [...]

    3. I've been waiting for Caleb's story and was pleased with how it played out. Caleb is responsible for the accident that caused Rebecca's fiancé to break off their engagement. After he left town, Caleb took it upon himself to keep an eye on Rebecca and her little sister through his brother. The guilt he experiences is too great for anything else. When he is shot, his horse finds his way to Rebecca's and though she hates him, she won't let any man die. Soon they find themselves forced to marry and [...]

    4. This is now one of my favorite marriage of convenience stories! I love that Rebecca and Caleb had a childhood friendship and tumultuous history. The tension and chemistry is amazing but there are obstacles that need to be overcome as they fall in love and learn forgiveness of one's self and others.(Thank you to Harlequin and Love Inspired Books for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review)

    5. I was drawn to this book because of the conflict. How do you overcome such bitterness? The writer does a good job with that piece but some of the other drama of the plot overwhelms the romances and the religious aspects are awkward. I will try another book by this author but I wan't a huge fan of this one. I was given this book for my honest review. So, there you have it.

    6. Married By Christmas was a sweet, light read. It didn't have much depth and a lot of it was quite predictable (typical for most Love Inspired books), but I still enjoyed it.

    7. LOVED THIS ONE! Even though the two main characters frustrated me to no end with their cowardliness about their feelings for each other, it all worked out in the end.

    8. Caleb O'Malley witnesses the murder of a friend and is badly wounded in the process. He escapes but the cold and his wound is taking its toll. Rebecca Thurston is alerted by her dog that something is in the woods. When she investigates, she discovers it's Caleb. He was once a close childhood friend but Rebecca blames him for the accident that changed her life. She knows she must help him or he'll die, but she has no idea what helping him will mean to her future. Caleb has been plagued with guilt [...]

    9. Married by Christmas by Karen Kirst is the fifth book in Smoky Mountain Matches series but the first that I have read. Though we meet some characters from the previous books, overall I felt that I could easily read this book as a standalone. However, it is always best to read books of a series in order so you understand the back stories better. I know I will be reading the previous books. This is the story of Rebecca and Caleb who have a history. Caleb did something that led to Rebecca's engageme [...]

    10. I won this book from a contest on .Rebecca Thurston, Caleb O'Malley and Adam Tierney were best friends growing up and seldom seen apart. So much so that Rebecca and Adam became engaged, much to Caleb's disdain, as Caleb loved Rebecca from afar and never told either Rebecca or Adam. But then a stupid prank that Caleb goaded Adam into doing with him went awry leaving Adam in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. At this point Adam broke off the engagement to Rebecca and Rebecca blamed everything [...]

    11. 3 starsMarried by Christmas is a nice story. I have not read other books in this series so have not connected to a lot of the characters. It has drama, action, faith and prayer.I like Caleb, Rebecca that they are willing to sacrifice to protect Amy, and save each other. Rebecca is so angry with Caleb for something that happened a year ago. She finds him wounded by a gunshot and drags him into the house.Caleb is close to dying but Rebecca fights to save him.Because Rebecca had Caleb at her cabin [...]

    13. Set in the 1880s in eastern Tennessee, the heroine blames the hero for ruining her life, for causing the accident that took her fiance out of her life. She would like to blame him for the death of her parents in a wagon accident, but can't. That wouldn't be fair or true. And when he turns up gunshot in the middle of a blizzard, she can't leave him out in the cold. She hauls him into the cabin her parents left to her and her younger sister and tends his wounds until the storm abates and neighbors [...]

    14. Loved it. A great continuation of the O'Malley family. I've been waiting on Caleb's story for awhile. Favorite thing about this story was when I expected the characters to do one thing and they did the opposite. I love it when stories surprise me like this and this had plenty. Loved that we got just a little bit more of Nicole and with what was shown, I'm already looking forward to her book. This was also a book I hated to put down. Hated it so much that I read it in a matter of hours. Edit (aft [...]

    15. Rebecca Thurston has a boyfriend that she is sure will become her husband one day, living together in the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. But,as boys will be boys, her love Adam, was injured in a playful accident that she thought was another person's fault. But that wasn't all. She also blamed the other person, Caleb, for causing Adam to reject her as his love and then move away. Now she is faced when another accident occurs to the one she had been mad at for a long time. Will her emotions kee [...]

    16. This was a sweet, cozy Christmas story.I enjoyed the intriguing, though a bit clique, premise and found the characters enjoyable and easy to sympathize with. The romance was sweet and gentle, the action was thrilling, and the faith was, well, the same as usual. Disappointing.I really liked this story and it was perfect for Christmastime. I couldn't help but relish in their fun and I found myself nearly crying with them too upon occasion.Isn't the cover gorgeous? I love the wintry, romantic look [...]

    17. I went into this modest inspirational category without much hope for a great read. Well well well, was I ever surprised! Becca and Caleb are lovely: Becca, angry at Caleb's purported "ruining" of her life by leading her fiancé to his injury and subsequent abandonment of her; and Caleb, so guild-ridden and in love with Becca. There's much intrigue and some unusual baddies; mostly, I'll remember an unusual tenderly sensual marriage-of-convenience and the breaking open of hearts when forgiveness, [...]

    18. This is a nice historical romance set in snowy wooded country, where a girl saves a man from snow and injuries only to find that his company has compromised her moral standing locally. Should she feel obliged to marry him - even if she can't stand him? There's an element of danger as the injured man had been shot by an outlaw who had just murdered the sheriff. As he can identify the outlaws, they will come after him. All the different townsfolks and crooks are presented as real people with genuin [...]

    19. A sweet romance with an element of danger makes this marriage of convenience story a must read. The gripping opening scene had me hooked. Kirst doesn't let up on the obstacles stacked between Caleb and Rebecca and their happily ever after. I particularly liked reading about Rebecca's spiritual journey. She has been harboring blame and bitterness for way too long and watching her release them bit by bit throughout the story made for a wonderful inspirational thread. Great character growth brings [...]

    20. I enjoyed this book from the first page. Karen Kirst writes strong characters, believable conflict, a wonderful push/pull romance and adds a touch of danger that keeps you turning the pages. Have you ever invited killers into your home for coffee because of winter's bitter cold weather?Because of the title, I expected a stronger emphasis on Christmas than I found in the book. I would have liked more. But, that opinion is from a true Christmas lover! Married by Christmas is a good, enjoyable read [...]

    21. It was refreshing that this marriage for propriety's sake didn't have a farce of a wedding. There was no doubt that the couple wasn't thrilled about having their hands forced. My favorite part was when Rebecca finally realized the hurt that she had caused Caleb and just how unfair she had been to place the blame on him when God has given us all free will. My second favorite was when Rebecca realized how Caleb's horse found her home in the middle of the storm.

    22. the best of the series so far!! i love when the hero needs the help of a lady to nurse him back to health. also, i love when in return the recovered hero has to save the lady from danger. great read for a snowy winter's day. i can't wait for the next in the series!***SIGNED***(Received free through First Reads)

    23. Wonderful bookI loved this book. I loved the characters. I thought the storey line very interesting and different. I loved the O'Malley family and can't wait to rear more stories about them.

    24. LOVED ITI have enjoyed all of the books I have read by Karen Kirst. I have never been disappointed. This story is about forgiveness. Rebecca hated Caleb for wrecking her dreams of becoming Adam's wife. God had other plans for them. God's plans are always better than ours.

    25. This story is beautifully told. Becca and Caleb's early friendship was a good basis for when they decided to move beyond the marriage of convenience they were forced into. The themes of redemption and forgiveness are moving.

    26. "This Smoky Mountain Matches story tells how God can take something seemingly bad and turn it into a blessing — even a good deed that seemingly didn’t go unpunished when the needs of others were put first" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).Miniseries: Smoky Mountain Matches

    27. Loved it!!!A very good book. I couldn't put it down. Heartfelt story that truly leaves you feeling good. You won't be disappointed.

    28. This Christmas love story has become one of my favorites. The love triangle is believable a d heart-wrenching at times. I also enjoyed the setting of the Smoky Mountains in an earlier century.
