    1. I am delighted to take part in the Blog Tour for this book for which I received a copy in exchange for an honest review. It is an interesting middle grade chapter book story that combines so many wonderful elements. This story relates what happens to the Munson family after their parents are killed in a car accident. Susie, the eldest at age eleven, narrates the tale. Other members of the family include Tucker, age nine, and twins Jesse and Mindy, age five. They have recently moved into a dilapid [...]

    2. My son (7), daughter (11) and I (the Mom) read and reviewed this book for Mother Daughter Book Reviews. Here are excerpts from our reviews. Visit our website for moreN SAYS: This book is about four kids named Jesse, Mindy, Susie, and Tucker who realize there are magical creatures living in and around their house. I liked everything about this book but a thing I really liked was when Jesse said “On Fursdays Da Fing gets cwampy in his hole, so he comes out of it.” I learned that when something [...]

    3. From the Magical Mind of Mindy Munson comes a world of imaginary creatures with a very real presence. Mindy's gift of foresight is accepted by her siblings, and though they are unable to see as Mindy does, they heed her every warning. The eldest of the children, Susie, observes her family as the narrator of the story, recording a journalistic account of the events occurring throughout a full year of living with their Aunt Julie. Her first-hand account gives a somber, monotonous tone to the book [...]

    4. Thoroughly enjoyed "From the Magical Mind of Mindy." Told from the view point of Mindy's older sister, it's clear from early on that Mindy has a magical mind. Mindy is a twin, and doesn't talk, except to her twin brother who then translates. I don't like to spoil books by giving away the entire plot, but the 4 siblings in this book suffer a great tragedy and end up living with their Aunt in a big spooky house. Mindy apparently can see things other's cannot, whether they are real or not it's up t [...]

    5. I love the front cover! Great job on the illustration. Pretty good drawings in the rest of the book too, even though they’re small. Now, as for the story of the bookThe chapters are short. Perfect for reading one chapter per evening to your kid before they go to sleep. The main characters live in a haunted house. The dialogue in the book is great. There are some childlike conversations such as, “I’m a boy. only girls use fans. I wouldn’t use that thing even if I was on the brink of death [...]

    6. I found the summary of this book really interesting. The background of the book cover, the incorporation of golden lines and stars throughout, is magical. It goes very well with the title. However, I found the face of the little kid to be a bit too unnatural, too doll-like.Mindy Munson is a 5 year old girl, who has a magical mind!. The book is written from the POV of Mindy’s elder sister, Susie, who is 11 years old. They have two more siblings, Tucker who is 9 and Jesse who is Mindy’s twin b [...]

    7. From the Magical Mind of Mindy Munson is the story of four kids who have just moved into a large haunted house with their Aunt after losing their parents in a car crash. Mindy Munson hasn't spoken since she was in the car with her twin brother on That Day. However, that doesn't stop her from sharing with her siblings all the magical creatures that lurk on the expansive grounds of the house, including "Da Fing" that lives in the basement. Communicating only with her twin brother, she lets them kn [...]

    8. This book is a just awesome. I really did love every minute of it. It is, not only a cute story, but has such cute hidden messages. I bet if I were to read it a second time, I would notice even more than I did the first time and still enjoy the book just as much as I did the first time reading through. 5 out of 5 starsFirst of all, the book is written in a first person perspective, which is not usually my favorite, but the author does it so well. My problem with first person books is that the th [...]

After the death of their parents the four Munson children, Susie, Tucker, Jesse, and Mindy move in with their Aunt Julie. It is well written and easy for young readers to follow. The Munson children lost their parents in an accident 3 years ago. Using this event, Nikki Bennett does a good job of showing how different people deal with grief from the same event in different ways. Susie, the oldest Munson and the narrator, feels responsible for the [...]

    11. Author Nikki Bennett has built a wonderfully-intricate setting that young readers will love in her middle-grade book, From the Magical Mind of Mindy Munson. Main character Susie has a very authentic, engaging voice, and readers are treated to her first-person account of how she and her siblings adjust to living in a large, rundown estate with their guardian, Aunt Julie. Through the imaginations of the younger kids, Tucker and Mindy, various make-believe characters such as The Thing in the baseme [...]

    12. Susie, Tucker, Mindy and Jesse, live with Aunty Julie ever since, THE Day. The day their parents died in a car crash. Aunty Julie moves them into a strange old house that once knew better days, complete with cabana, dishevelled pool, a creepy basement and a dusty attic, but there are more than just weird rooms. Mindy says there are strange creatures. Well, Mindy doesn’t actually say it aloud, she had been silent since the accident. She whispers to her twin Jesse, who relays her tales of magica [...]

    15. In this sweet tale of three young children who lost their parents, you will find the effects of emotional trauma, vivid imaginations and secret friends hidden all over their property. Mindy and Jesse suffer a great deal of emotional stress because they were with their Mom and Dad That Day. After the accident Mindy refuses to talk to anyone but her twin Jesse. 17. What initially drew me to this book was the cover. I thought it was kind of cute. And the title was intriguing. Now having read The Magical Mind of Mindy Munson, I was not disappointed. Mindy is a little girl who doesn't talk, except to whisper to her twin brother, Jesse, who is sort of her spokesman for their two older siblings, Tucker and Susie. After the Munson kids lose their parents in an accident, they move to a new (old) house with their aunt. But according to Mindy, this house is already [...]

    18. Susie Munson an eleven years old was the oldest when her parents died in an accident with the twin babies in the car. She and her brother Tucker had been staying with their aunt Julie when they got the news. Once the twins got our of the hospital, Mindy never said a word out loud but whispered to Jesse her twin what she wanted to say and Mindy was never wrong, if she said there was a monster living in the basement of their old drafty house, they believed her. What a cute story about kids facing t [...]

    19. What an amazing book. It is full of wonderful images and imaginitave characters. The children in this story have the most incredible way of dealing with difficult situations. It is beautiful how some of the adults help them as they learn to cope with the loss of their parents and the changes of their new lives. Kids have a fantastically innocent view of the world and this book captures all of that magic. It is a book that children will enjoy and relate to. Adults will also enjoy reading from the [...]

    20. My son (9) says he really liked reading this book. His favorite parts where making everyone say the word "what" which he loves doing to us as well. He likes the humor and agrees with the lesson about moving on. We would both recommend this book to kids between 6 and 13 and to all libraries. We received an evaluation copy through Mother Daughter Book Reviews in exchange for our honest unpaid opinion.

    21. This is a wonderful book describing the adventures of 4 siblings, including a set of twins. The book highlights the special connections and relationships that twins have. The book is full of mysteries as the children move in with their aunt after being orphaned. I would highly recommend this book to any third, fourth, or fifth grade children and teachers. It would make a wonderful read a-loud or book study.

    22. This was a short little story that I absolutely adored. I received a copy of this book in exchange for my open and honest opinion, so here goes. This is a story that is geared towards middle aged children, but you will find it entertaining as an adult as well. It had a mixture of all sorts, so it kept me engaged and I didn't want to put it down. Honestly, I wish it was a little longer, but for the audience that it is geared for, it was absolutely perfect. As we take a ride along with the Munson [...]

    23. I found this a very intriguing book for all ages :) I loved the fact that even though Mindy didn't speak, you always knew what she was trying to say and understood! It takes place in a haunted house that they are living in, and although all of the kids realize it is haunted by something, Mindy is really the only one who seems to completely comprehend the mystery. I was amazed by the ending, and definitely think it left an opening for another book which is awesome, and I would most definitely rea [...]

    24. From the Magical Mind of Mindy Munson by Nikki Bennett is a very intriguing story right from the beginning. There are four children, living with their aunt following the death of their parents. They live in a house where lots of strange things seem to be happening. There are sounds, and creatures, and creepy things. Mindy is the one that knows about the things happening, and she tells her twin who tells the others. The story line was very interesting and kept my attention. Even though this is ge [...]

    25. I loved this book. Mindy has a great imagination. Is it only her imagination or are these creatures real? There are monsters and ghosts and spirits. Mindy is the one to see and actually know these creatures are there. Purple spider in the attic. The Thing in the basement. Abimal Snowman in the pump house. Mulberry Dragon. Ruby. These are just a few of the crazy creatures living in their yard. The thing they are afraid of is The Thing in the basement. These kids learn to deal with the tragic loss [...]
