    1. R. L. Fanthorpe was one of those prodigiously prolific wordsmiths who cranked out dozens of novels and stories under a variety of pseudonyms, many of them for Badger Books, from the 1950's to the 1970's. Brief and fun, this book offers snippets of Fanthorpe's sesquipedalian prose, which, surprisingly, often captures both the Sense of Wonder and a Sense of Humor, at the same time.     2. As an author, and a student of science fiction history, I found this book entertaining and satisfying on both fronts. How do you write 168 books in 12 years--in your spare time?? Read this book to find out. Debbie Cross does a great job of picking some of Fanthorpe's most humorously excessive passages and grouping them in sections, often putting them in context as well. And I have to say, "Curse of the Khan" was a surprisingly fun story, and not badly written, either.
