    1. It's interesting to read a book about Romania written by an American. It's an outside perspective, different from what you see in the history manuals and it's different from the usual view. An American is usually unfamiliar with who is considered a hero in Romania, so everyone's actions are judged objectively, without that bias added to them. It's refreshing and sometimes disconcerting. It's a book that's well written and good to read.

    2. Very good information and statistics on the status of the Romanian counties at the time. I've read it in Romanian (translated) so maybe this doesn't apply to the English version, but the text was very very heavy and hard to read, even for a history book. Content wise though its mostly praise. The only critique I would have is that the author didn't always describe events in chronological order (there were a lot of intertwined events and the book focuses on different provinces at a time) made rea [...]

    3. A very good book about the period 1774-1866. A history of Romania written from an objective perspective, but in some situations he made some flattery to the old landowners. As an overall is a very good book with a simple style, simple enough to understand the past and the circumstances that led to the unification.

    4. Today I began to read about Tudor Vladimirescu's "rebelution". I like the book because it has a simple style, simple enough to understand but not to bore, and I am looking forward to read more.
