    1. This is a fantastic overview on the history of AIDS in Africa. Iliffe is a renowned African historian and has written several really great Africa history books. This one is very easy to read for someone who doesn't know much about HIV/AIDS in Africa - and that is the point, he wrote it as a broad basis for the AIDS epidemic, how it came to be, where it may be going, and what happened in between.I read it to do research for a paper I was writing, but I'm glad I did.     2. Iliffe covers this vastly complicated topic with honesty and depth. Totally necessary reading for anyone in PH or interested in Africa (M and E, I'm looking at you!)
