    1. Really good. Sebeos manages not to inflict his Xian viewpoint on his neutral narrative of events. The historical commentary in a separate volume fills the picture out and picks out what one might miss or need explanation for eg the christianisation of the army in Egypt in league with the Greeks or that people, including Heraclius, were so convinced God was on the victorious Ismaelites' side they just gave in until their defeat at Constantinople when 'the host of soldiers were drowned r the sea o [...]
