Wonderful resource guide!!I received a free advanced copy in exchange for a fair review.

    3. I do enjoy making cakes, but the one thing that usually lets me down is the icing. I now have great hopes of achieving much better results having read this book. It is the first book about cake decorating that i have come across with so much information. Information that covers not only decorating cakes, but types of icing used, but the use of food colours, cutting, icing recipes and so on. There are plenty of pictures. I would certainly recommend. My thanks to Netgalley and the Publishers. This [...]

    5. Most cake decorating authors don't include enough photos to learn off of and the one's that are included are always the pretty conclusion of a step not the progress. In the past 6 years I have given up on cake decorating books in favour of videos. I can pause in the middle of a step and rewatch something as many times as needed. Videos usually tackle one cake feature or design at a time which is great for decorators who have some experience. The people in those videos did not make a 3 tiered wed [...]

    6. I got this book due to the wonderful people at NetGalleyanks again!!!!I am a horrible cake decorator I am an excellent painter but my skills do not extend to cakes (I always think that because my hands are so warm all the time that it melts the frosting - I even bought those crazy "Russian" cake decorating tools on to cheat with and cannot get them to work. As a fan of the GBBO (Great British Bake Off), the contestant's skills are mad compared to mine but I was determined to make some kind of [...]

    7. Received a copy of this via Netgalley.I've mostly skimmed this so far but I'm really looking forward to trying out some of the things in here. Seems a very comprehensive guide to decorating cakes for a complete newbie like me. There are lots of pictures showing the various techniques and finished products, these show up far better on my Fire than they would on my Paperwhite where I think a lot of the detail would be lost. There are chapters dedicated to the different ways of decorating a cake. Bu [...]

    8. Disclosure: I received a copy of this book as an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for a review. I previewed this book as an e-book, so I cannot fully review the layout. "All-in-One Guide to Cake Decorating" is a great primer and reference for home bakers that are either a wee bit rusty or new to decorating cakes. Janice Murfitt has laid out a clear and concise reference book for various techniques and icings. She displayed a clear attention to detail, which I thoroughly appreciated. Her directions [...]

    9. All-in-One Guide to Cake Decorating thoroughly covers the basics of cake decorating. Learn how to make various types of icings, successfully use fondant, form flowers and leaves, mold and manipulate marzipan, pipe icing, and fill and layer round, square and rectangle cakes. Author Murfitt even includes instructions on making your own templates. The instructions are easy to read and understand. They are written in steps, with helpful photographs. Reading this, I felt confident that I could safely [...]

    10. This is *not* a bake from one end to the other kind of cookbook. But it is certainly one you want in your library for special occasion cake-baking. When I was little, a German friend of our family would bake what she called a “Tooth Cake” when a child lost their first tooth. It was a floral extravaganza which we all yearned for. I’ll be darned if Murfitt doesn’t make me feel like a Tooth Cake is within my abilities someday. With helpful advice on icings, frostings, cream fillings, marzipa [...]

    11. A comprehensive book related to cake decorating techniques and terminology. Some photos are provided, but not step by step photos. I think it would be very hard for me (a newbie) to learn through text alone. The text was a little difficult to understand and process. This is a great book for someone that already has some experience with baking. It is perfect for them, but I think someone new would have some difficulty navigating and understanding. Overall the book is well written and researched. [...]

    12. I am a sucker for cake books! This one seems useful, lots of info on decorating cakes, how to use the paste food colors, various tips on creating neat looking cakes by cutting, melting chocolate, learned about crimpers-which I had never heard of before- gum paste was a new one for me, to.o. Recipes for frostings, icings, gum paste and others are included. I'm looking forward to seeing this book. Photos look good, but I the Kindle doesn't do it justice I'm sure.
