    1. The child's book "Five Little Penguins Slipping On The Ice" was a fun story to read that had a good moral of when there is danger, there was also risk involved. A possible punishment is being quarantined to the house by the doctor. The penguins realized pretty fast that outside can be dangerous if they didn't be careful. All of the brothers and sisters watched each other get hurt which forced them to be stuck at home. That didn't stop them from exploring and going on adventures. This story didn' [...]

    2. I read this book to my three year old cousin, and he loved it. He wished he could do all the fun stuff that the penguins had fun doing. He thought the doctor was mean for telling the penguins they couldn't go outside and play anymore. I thought this book was very cute. It reminded me of the book about the five monkeys jumping on the bed that I read when I was younger. I feel as if it should have given the little penguins names instead of just calling them penguins. Also, I thought it was weird t [...]

    3. Personal- I read the book Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice. The book was easy to read. Thus, the book was an easy read and had a lot of detail about the five little penguins. I read this book to my nephew Hunter and he loved it. He is three and likes animal books. The five penguins hurt themselves all the time. Plot- This book is about five young penguins that can not seem to slow down. One by one, these little penguins keep hurting themselves. Every time a little penguin gets hurt, the [...]

    4. Steve Metzger’s, “Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice”, is a spin off of the book, “Five Little Monkey’s Jumping on a Bed”. “Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice” is an adorable childrens story about five penguins who are playing outside during the winter. The story starts with five penguins who are slipping on the ice when all of a sudden one penguin got hurt so the mom called the doctor and the doctor advised for no more penguins to slip on the ice. The story continues [...]

    5. "Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice" is about five little penguins. These five little penguins are always having fun but one by one they just keep getting hurt. The mother keeps on calling the doctor but the doctor keeps saying no more this no more that. Pretty soon they have nothing to do because the doctor said they can't do anything. 6. “Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice” is a really good children’s book. This book reminded me of the book “Five Little Monkeys jumping on the bed”. “Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice” is written by Steve Metzger and illustrated by Laura Bryant. I think that Laura Bryant did an excellent job on the pictures. This book is about five brother and sister penguins. They are outside having fun on the ice when one falls down after slipping on the ice. The mother then calls the [...]

    7. I liked "Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice" by Steve Metzger because the rhyming sentences kept me wanting to read. The series of events that happen to the five little penguins is entertaining and interesting. The group of five penguins slowly decreases to one penguin as the story goes on. The penguins do not have names. I suspect that they are all sibling penguins though, because they have the same mother. As one penguin gets hurt in each activity, the mother penguin calls the doctor for [...]

    8. I read the book “Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice.” This book is about five young penguins that never know when to slow down. Slowly, one at a time, these little penguins keep getting hurt. Every time one of the little penguins hurts themselves, the mother calls the doctor. The doctor keeps telling the little penguins to stop doing what they were doing. Eventually they run out of activities, so the mother calls the doctor and he tells them to go have some fun again. The characters in [...]

    9. I read the book “Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice.” It was a good book about five little penguins that like to have fun. They each have some bad luck and one after another they got hurt and the doctor says that they can’t do that anymore. After they are all hurt though the doctor says that they need to go and have some fun, so all the penguins go and play outside. There weren’t too many things about the main characters. There are five young penguins. They each have a bit of bad lu [...]

    10. I just read “Five little Penguins Slipping on the Ice” by Steve Metzger. It is a great children's book that shows kids to be careful while playing. There are five little penguins in the book and each one hurts itself some how. The recurring theme of the book is the mother calls the doctor and the doctor says no more penguins (insert verb here_______) on the (insert a noun here_______). Throughout the whole book this mother lets her baby penguins go play in dangerous places! They then get hur [...]

    11. “Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice” was a cute little story. Picture books are my favorite. It was really sad when the first little penguin fell down while slipping on the ice then, the second one fell into the icy sea while sliding near a tree. The third penguin flew up then fell down while skating all around and the forth banged her bill playing on a hill. The fifth one should have just stayed home because he was bound to get hurt and he did. He broke the ice and began to cry after [...]

    12. "Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice" was a good picture book that showed two important aspects of life. The kids can get hurt playing and the penguins had to learn from their friends getting hurt. They should have stopped playing on the ice but they did not. All of the penguins got hurt and eventually were all kept inside. They were not having any fun and they were stuck inside. Their mom got a phone call and it changed their attitudes. I would recommend this book to any child looking for [...]

    13. "Five Little Penguins Slipping On the Ice" is a book about five little penguins who go outside and play on the ice. All of the little penguins get hurt while playing on the ice. The mother calls the doctor, and the doctor says the little penguins can no longer play on the ice. A little while later the doctor calls back and the doctor says that the penguins can go back out on the ice and play. I think this was a good book that is recommended for little children.

    14. This was a very quick and easy book to read. I found it very funny and cute. It had a rhyme scheme throughout the entire story, which was fun to read. I would recommend this book for all ages. Kids and adults can enjoy this fun story about five baby penguins keep finding ways to get themselves into trouble.

    15. I used this picture book for Sunday's story time. I used it in place of the finger play. I had the kids put up 5 fingers and remove one each time they were sent to bed. Kids enjoyed the book.

    16. The book “Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice” is a very funny kid’s book. The book has some pretty unique pictures and a rhyming rhythm. There not a page in the book that doesn’t make you want o sing it like a song. My sister and I both read it to each other. She loved the book because she thought it was like the “Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the bed”. In the book all the penguins want to do is have some fun. They get in trouble or hurt for almost everything they do and the m [...]

    17. I read this book to my 4 year old brother. He really liked it because it had a lot of colorful pictures and it rhymed a lot. “Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice” is a rhyming book about five little penguins that keep getting themselves into trouble. Their mother keeps having to call the doctor and the doctor says no more penguins playing on the ice. Finally when the penguins stop doing things to get into trouble they get really sad because they can't do anything. So there mother calls [...]

    18. I thought that the book was very good, and that it can teach you a lot of life lessons, such as don’t go slipping on the ice or playing on a hill because it can be very hazards to your health. The characters in the book are the five young penguins the mother penguin and the doctor, the five young penguins are the reason that the mother has to keep calling the doctor because they are always falling. The setting of the book takes place in the outdoors where the younger penguins keep getting the [...]

    19. This is a cute sing-song tale about penguins that follows the same pattern and song as Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed? The rhyme scheme isn't as good, but it's still entertaining, especially for younger children. We borrowed this book from our local library as part of a kit with a paperback book and an audio CD. Our girls enjoyed reading along with the book as we listened to the book narrated aloud as we drove home from the library. It's a short book and probably most appropriate for you [...]

    20. Synopsis: ""Five little penguins slipping on the ice. One fell down. Ouch! That's not nice!" Oh, no! Now there are only four penguins left! What will mother do?"My Review: This is simply a winter version of monkeys jumping on the bed. It has that same simple song like rhythm and phrases. It is a good one for counting and maybe a little bit of outdoor activities and using caution. Munchkin enjoyed counting the penguins but it hasn't been one he reaches for to read again.

    21. While I feel compelled to like all children's books, this absolutely didn't appeal to me. My son brought this home off the bus and insisted I read it several times. Each time I tried to convince myself to be open-minded and find something endearing. I kept reminding myself this is NOT about little monkeys jumping on beds. However, I just couldn't get past the startling similarities in the beginning of the story that just went by the wayside. I find it very surprising this is a book. That said, [...]

    22. Here's the penguin version of the nursery rhyme "Five Little Monkeys Swinging on a Tree." Cute illustrations and guessing to see what will happen to each penguin will keep young children entertained.**Like my reviews? I also have hundreds of detailed reports that I offer too. These reports give a complete break-down of everything in the book, so you'll know just how clean it is or isn't. I also have Clean Guides (downloadable PDFs) which enable you to clean up your book before reading it! Visit [...]

    23. If performing this in a library story time, invite the children to hold up one hand and wiggle the fingers.Five little penguins slipping on the ice (turn page)One fell down (all the children "CLAP!")Ouch! That's not nice." Their Mama (pause and ask 'What did their mother do?') called the doctorI found that this worked better when I paused to let the children drive the story, so to speak.

    24. Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice by Steve MetzgerStory of penguins falling, one by one and hurting themselves.Audio version so I'm not able to see the penguins slipping on the ice.Mother called the doctor and he told her, no more penguins slipping on the ice. The other penguins also slide around ice.I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

    25. In a variation on the classic rhyme, five little penguins are doing all sorts of things that result on momma calling the doctor and the doctor banning certain actions.I have a thing about penguins so this pretty much gets 3 stars just for featuring penguins. The actual text is nothing spectacularly amazing. Kids will get into the beat of the rhyme and will catch on to the repetitive phrases. The illustrations are fun. Should be a hit with preschool and kindergarten classes.

    26. I found this book in the discarded bin at my language school and I picked it up for my English lessons. The drawings are fantastic and there aren't many words on the page. For this reason my students (who are learning English) weren't scared of it. The words are simple enough and all the repetition helped the reader.Plus, I love winter ^__^Nice and fluffy!

    27. Great rhyming and rhythm! If you're familiar with "Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed", you will enjoy reading this. Since there's counting involved, it helps children learn their numbers. There's rhyming in the story, as well as rhythm and it's easy to follow along.

    28. Five little penuins slipping on the iceOh No!!!! What happen next? Find out what will Mother do and what Doctor will say. This book is the same theme as Five Little Monkeys. Good book for Pre-K and Kindergarten.

    29. A different version of 'Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed' except this version doesn't even rhyme which isn't necessarily a bad thing but the rhythm is all wrong. My kids couldn't anticipate the story like they could with the Monkey's version.
